Paragliding at Kamshet, India

Updated: Apr 14, 2018

I was extremely delighted when I became aware of paragliding opportunity near Mumbai. As a kid I always loved the idea of flying in the sky be it paragliding, parasailing or skydiving but never got the opportunity till Nov 2014.

Paragliding at Kamshet

I was staying in Lonavala when I heard about this agency named #FlyNirvana that provides paragliding opportunities in a lush green hilly area of #Kamshet. They offer paragliding courses as well as Tandem flights for those who are running short on time and/or wish to experience once the joy of flying in the sky capturing the panoramic view of Kamshet. I opted for the second one due to paucity of time.

How to reach there?

I went by a private vehicle to reach kamshet and from there they take you in an SUV to the flying site. You can also take the train or state transport bus from Dadar TT or CST to Lonavala. Then take the local up-to Kamshet station. It is not possible to go by own vehicle till the takeoff point as roads are extremely bad and too risky slopes. Once you reach the top then you have to trek for few kilometer to reach the site.

Some tips:

Don’t forget to wear sports shoes else you won’t be allowed to do paragliding and it will be impossible to trek.

Flying season: Fly Nirvana offers its services from October to May mostly. For Tandem flights best time is early morning and late afternoons when the wind is good so book and reach the point accordingly.

Mail at info@flynirvana.com  with your Name / Dates / No of Persons/ Mobile No  & Duration of Flight to book the flight and get more info. You can also ask for HD pictures of your flight in advance.

Cost for Paragliding courses:

  • Elementary Pilot Course : INR 20000/- (4 Days /3Nights)

  • Taster Course : INR 16000/- (3 Days/2Nights)

  • Intro Course: INR 12000/- (2 Days/1Night)

Cost for Tandem flights:

  • 5-10 min easy course: INR 2500/-

  • 15-20 min Acro course: INR 4500/-

  • 25-30 min Acro course: INR 6500/-

  • Weekend prices are a bit higher.

Where to stay:

If you going for one day flight then obviously no need to stay but if you decide to opt for any course then they offer stay at #NativePlace guest house that has tents and dorms. Best place to meet new people and enjoy get-together parties at night.

Hope I provided you all details to fulfil your adventurous experience!

I took one time flight and it was a good experience but am sure learning how to do paragliding on your own will be the best experience to have. Staying with loads of new people at native place resort and learning everyday will be the most enriching experience. Once you know how to fly solo then there is no ending to the entertainment.
