In my eleven years that I have spent in Jaipur so far I have explored almost all places, some had finger licking food, some had a perfect blend of soothing ambience & delectable food and there were a few that left a hole in my pocket without offering me either of these!
For all the food aficionados here is a list of places which left me and my tastebuds with super-delicious memories:
If you happen to be a hardcore non-vegetarian like me then do try #LaalMaas, #Soola (Mutton) and #JungleMaas (Both are mutton dishes) at #Handi and #Niros restaurant at MI Road, or #Spicecourt at Civil lines. Don’t forget to try #KeemaBati, a unique Spicy Rajasthani Dish. If you are willing to treat your taste buds then you must try these places as it’s all about food there.
#PyaazKachori & Mawa Kachori from #RawatMishthanBhandar, Sindhi Camp are very famous but I personally love pyazz Kachoris , Ghewar and sweets from #SodhaniSweets, Tonk Road. It was my favorite snacking place after coaching classes at Lalkothi. On my every trip to Jaipur I still buy minimum 20 Kachoris from there to satisfy my hunger pangs and relish good old memories.
In the scorching heat of Jaipur one must try buttermilk both sweet and salty at #lassiwala on MI road. There are many fake shops so don’t get confused and visit the original shop on the far left, shop 312, when facing the LassiWala shops from across the street.
Laxmi Misthan Bhandar #LMB, Johri Bazar is famous for Rajasthani ethnic thali in the restaurant. I have been there with my family many times and love their Gatte ki subji and ker sangari with Makai ki roti. Mouth is full of water just writing this decription guys. They also have huge variety of sweets and snacks in the shop so if you wish to pack any food item for your friends and family members do it there guys.
For authentic, tasty and economical Rajasthani food, I would recommend Natraj restaurant at MI road. The place serves simple and inexpensive Rajasthani thalis, with different breads, Gatte ki subji, Rajasthani curry, Mangori, Pakodi, Ker Sangari and yoghurt salads.
I am not a big chocolate fan though but all my friends keep talking about this Chocolate joint, Nibs at Gopalbari. So all the chocolate lovers do try breakfast, pasta, salad, chocolate pastries and waffles to name a few as per my peers’ recommendation.
#Tapri Central, C-scheme is one of my favorite places in Jaipur and I don’t think I can get over this place no matter where I go. Earlier there only one branch at Lalkothi where we all students used to hang out but with increasing popularity it opened another lounge at C-scheme overlooking the Central park. It offers a large variety of tea and Rajasthani street food in most hygienic conditions. Place is always full so ensure you either book beforehand or be ready to wait guys coz it’s totally worth it.
#AnokhiCafé, C-scheme, is the place to go for healthy organic salads, sandwiches and the best cheesecake in Pink City.
Chokhi Dhani, Tonk Road: Must visit to enjoy Rajasthani food in Rajasthani way. There are mixed reactions on food when it comes to this place as I personally don’t like food having too much butter in it but for a typical Rajasthani person it’s definitely a treat. The eating extravaganza begins with garlic chutney, jiggery, the famous choorma, ker sangri pickle, gatte ki sabzi and many other dishes. For me this place is all about experience, enjoying dance, camel ride, pottery, puppet show and the ambience and food needs a lot of improvement.
To enjoy the mouth-watering dishes ranging from North Indian fare to Kebab's, Tikka's to sumptuous delicacies from Rajasthan visit Rasoda Pool View Restaurant at Hotel Suryaa Villa, Jaipur. Take your taste buds on a culinary excursion and let the gourmet in you indulge in remarkably delicious dishes blended with a local flavour.
“On The House” is one of the hidden gems in C scheme. An uptown ambiance of a European bistro in store, offering baked delights along with a wide range of Italian, Continental and Mexican food.
You can also try Barbeque Nation, Tonk Road Jaipur for their lunch and dinner buffet. It is one of my favorite places to try out veg and non-veg starters and yummy desert.
Hope you enjoy the food and cover all places that leave you with mouth watering memories of Rajasthani food!
